Safeguarding is everyone’s business. Abuse and neglect could be prevented if concerns were raised as early as possible. It is important that you know what to look for, and where to get advice and support.

All children and some adults who are at risk of abuse and neglect need safeguarding. Adults at risk include those who have care and support needs because of their age, physical or learning disability, mental health condition or other illness.

Abuse could be physical, psychological, sexual or financial. Neglect means not meeting someone’s needs for essential things like medication, food, water, shelter and warmth.
